dress: target/ scarf: ross/ necklace: charlotte russe/ belt: bcbg outlet/
booties: kohls/ socks: boyfriend's sock drawer

This outfit came together after a personal goal. I wanted to take something from my closet that I didn't really like and reinvigorate it. The dress, by itself, is boxy and unflattering, and I really didn't like the way the neckline looked. So, it's been hanging in my closet lonely and unworn for over a year. I think I was able to give new life to this dress. I, also, wanted to try something new with my hair. I slicked my bangs back and thought it might give me some edge. However, I'm not as pleased with the result of that. I will stick with my side bangs.

Happy Sunday... it's a great day to try new things :)

ruffles and flowers

Do you ever have those days where you stand in front of your closet for what seems like an eternity? You look around and nothing seems quite right... Today was not one of those days! I picked out the tights and everything else fell easily into place. Gosh, I wish all morning were that easy!

We took pictures on campus today. I'm really going to try and take my photos before I get home. I go to such a beautiful campus, and it's a shame that I take most of my pics on my balcony.

This shirt was an amazing deal. I got it at Dillard's for a little over $3. I'm glad I finally got to wear it before it gets too warm out.

I'm making a strange face in this picture, but I felt like it best showcased my outfit. My lips even match the flowers <3

saturday in the park

It was absolutely gorgeous Saturday, so my boyfriend and I headed to the park to take some pictures. Now, I finally had some good photos to chose from. This is what I narrowed it down to.

I recently purchased these trousers and was a little unsure of how to wear them. I finally decided on a simple white blouse, and kept the accessories minimal yet still eye catching. I think the colors ended up complimenting the scenery.

While they don't have an exaggeratedly high waist, they were still a bit higher than what I'm used to. That's part of the reason I love this blog. It really challenges me to step outside my comfort zone and try new things. I'm really glad I did, because this is my favorite look so far.

This photo reminds me of the old marlboro ads.

The dangerous predicaments I put myself in for my blogs. You should have seen my boyfriend on the other side of the bridge. He was practically standing on the railing to get some of the photos.

Thankfully I never fell into the water...but I did come close!

I used my hot rollers to achieve this look. While my hair wasn't curly, it did have some nice body. I think the softness of the hair balanced out the masculinity of the watch and trousers.

I adore men's watches. When I'm no longer a poor college student, I'm going to buy myself a nice men's watch.

I picked out these flats for the lovely paisleys. From a distance this look might seem very simple, but it's all in the small details.

This purse was a great find at a thrift store. I feel like it's my "grown-up" purse. Something about it makes me feel sophisticated.

line dancing

I had a great time tonight! It gave me a chance to wear this dress that I recently thrifted. Who would give away this great thing? Well, I'm glad they did. I love it. I'm not entirely sure the brown boots go. I threw caution to the wind and thought, "I'm going line dancing. I have to wear my boots"!

I adore the pattern at the bottom.

stripes and pearls

Dear light denim jacket,

I just wanted to let you know how wonderful I think you are. You keep my warm on chilly days. You're a constant reminder of the 80s. You're beautiful, and I want to be with you every day.
I love you.

love always,

Headband: handmade by me
jean jacket: thrifted gap
turtleneck: f21
necklace: handmade by me
skirt: American Eagle
tights: wal-mart
quilted ballet flats: charlotte russe
It's difficult to tell in the pictures, but the shirt is navy not black.

If you have a simple pearl necklace, this is incredibly easy to make. Just take ribbon and connect it to the pearls and tie on a bow. You can even change out the color of the bow depending on the look. easy!

About Town

I had lots of errands to get done today. I needed to go to lowes, publix, and the mall to buy my clinique face wash. I didn't spend enough money to get the gift-with-purchase. bummer. However, I did score an amazing skirt for $4 and a plaid shirt for $4 at Dillards.

This look didn't come easily to me. It was a quite a lot of trial and error, which left a large mess on my bed. I knew I wanted to wear my corduroy shorts with tights and my favorite jean jacket. I just wasn't sure how to bring it all together. What do you think?
I adore this ballerina necklace. A constant reminder to strive for poise. I almost gave these shorts to goodwill. I've had them for years and never wore them. I didn't like the shape with my bare legs. That's why they have now become winter shorts worn with tights. In keeping with "shopping in my own closet", I am trying to rethink many items I already own. I'm glad I gave these shorts a second chance. I know I wear these boots all the time, but they're the only boots I own!
This headband reminds me of an 80's bridesmaid dress. I love it though, but I might be biased because I made it.
